Best for

Mastering and critical-listening studios that need verified converter performance on paper: 119/120 dB A-weighted dynamic range (in/out), -113/-108 dB THD+N, and ±0.010 dB input frequency response 20 Hz - 20 kHz. Ideal if your patchbay or console is already wired for DB25 looms, if you want 8 pristine line-level channels over plain USB 2.0 (no PCIe or Thunderbolt card needed), or if you value the built-in microSD recorder as a computer-free capture/playback path for up to 32 channels of broadcast WAV.

Who should skip

Anyone needing more than 8 channels of analog conversion in one box, or more than 8 channels over USB at 192 kHz (the LT-USB card drops from 16 in/16 out at 96 kHz to 8 channels at 192 kHz). Also skip if you want front-panel XLR/TRS analog connections out of the box - all 8 ins and 8 outs are on DB25, so there is no direct plug-in path for individual jacks without DB25 breakout cabling.

Watchouts

DB25 analog I/O means budgeting for breakout cables or looms if your studio is not already DB25-wired. Word clock connectivity shrinks from 1 in / 3 out to 1 in / 1 out when an LM-PRE4 or DB-ADAT expansion module is installed. USB channel count is rate-dependent: full 16 in/16 out only up to 96 kHz. The +6 dBV / +20 dBu trim options apply to the LM-AIO8 analog module. MPN LYN-AN08-USB is listed at 0.95 confidence from the manufacturer page.

Likely add-ons

  • appropriate audio and data cables
  • compatible monitoring, mounting, or power setup
