Best for

Professional mixing and mastering engineers who want a single full-range reference (30 Hz – 45 kHz ±3 dB) that works as both a nearfield and mid-field monitor, and who currently keep NS10s or mix cubes as secondary references — the MEME voicing switch (Flat / Hi-Fi / Old School NS10M / Cube) is designed to replace those extra speakers. Also suited to hybrid setups: it takes balanced analog XLR or AES3 digital directly, with per-speaker L/R channel select for digital feeds.

Who should skip

Anyone monitoring closer than the manufacturer's 1 m minimum listening distance (very small desks), rooms where a 71 lb, roughly 20.5-inch-wide cabinet per side is impractical, and buyers who need conventional onboard room-correction EQ — the controls are limited to input level (+3 to -6 dB in 1 dB steps), a ±2 dB subwoofer trim, and the MEME voicings. Digital-only users should note each AES3 input requires the signal to be attenuated at the source.

Watchouts

Manufacturer sources conflict on two specs: the owner's manual lists the midrange amplifier at 180 W while the website lists 250 W (website total of 1180 W/monitor vs the manual's description of seven 180 W modules), and overall dimensions differ (manual: 12.0 x 20.5 x 17.2 in; website: 20.5 x 10.5 x 17.4 in) — manual values are used here with the conflict noted. The rear VAC select switch must match your mains voltage; running 230 V mains in the 115 V position causes damage not covered under warranty. The Economik listing showed the pair as currently unavailable at the time of research. Barefoot lists the pair at $12,995 USD on its own site; the CAD retail price is set by the dealer. No manufacturer part number or GTIN was published on any cited source.
